The lotus flower grows from the murky waters, finds the sun, dies to be reborn in the depths. It is a symbol of mans struggle to find the light. Knowledge, perhaps is as simple as knowing that all these things, murky waters, sunlight, peace exist in one and the same moment; it just depends where we are looking. The lotus position of peace starts from within the self, radiating out from the core. The possibility of peace, the inevitability of peace makes our minds bigger enabling us to see beyond ourselves to the universe. In the universe all things are possible. To have peace in our outer world there must be peace in our inner world. The Seated Lotus Position, has come to be associated with Buddhism but it is much older than that; it is the shape of mans thought. The Lotus of Peace exists in our compassion, in our ability to express ourselves as humane beings. |
